“Safety E(i)nsured” Gdynia, May 23rd 2019   The X General Meeting and the Xth Information and Promotion Meeting of the Polish Ship Managers Association were held on May 23rd in DNV GL Office in Gdynia. Referring to the changes over the last four years and the dynamics of the relationship between the Associationand other entities present in the maritime economy as well as foreign entities - PSMA Members recognized that a further step is needed and decided to adopt a resolution on the establishment of the Polish Shipping Companies’ Association (PSCA). The task of the PSCA is to protect the interests of the associated members as well as to shape the legal and economic conditions favorable to the development of shipping operations conducted from Poland. In addition, the General Meeting approved the detailed financial report for the year 2018 and confirmed the Management Board decision to accept Phoenocean Andrzej Stępnik as the new Member. The Association's strategy for the year 2019-2020 was also adopted by the General Meeting and subsequently presented during the following  Information and Promotion Meeting by Mr. Dariusz Jellonnek - President of the Management Board. This strategy is based on following pillars: - promoting Polish shipping operations both in Poland  and abroad in order to encourage foreign owners and shipowners to open offices in Poland; - creating and promoting legal and economic solutions enabling conducting shipping operations from Poland on competitive terms with other EU / EEA countries. The work of the Union Council, established on March 14, 2019, will be of key importance in these efforts. - the continuation of the existing initiatives of the Polish Ship Managers' Association i.e. the Competition for the Best Graduate of the Maritime Academy, the Ship Management panel at the Maritime Economy Forum 2019; During the Information and Promotion Meeting under the slogan "Safety e (i) nsured" following presenters were present Mr. Wolfgang Reiss - Director of Maritime Insurance, Georg Duncker Insurance Brockers from Hamburg, who presented the issue of the Scrubber Insurance Risks Mr. Ryszard Nowak - from the company Prąd Service, who presented the current achievements of his company and new solutions in the field of marine electrics Mr. Piotr Masny - from HMS Assistance S.A. - who presented the main challenges and problems (with particular attention paid to health problems) of seafarers working on merchant ships in international trade The next meeting is scheduled before the end of 2019.
